Ōfunato City in Iwate Prefecture suffered significant damage from the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011. At a shrine in Koshiirai, Ōfunato City, a festival was held once every four years, but it could not be held for 16 years due to the earthquake. With the cooperation of people from nearby towns, the festival was able to be held on the 11th. A 'mikoshi' departed from the shrine and paraded through the town. After that, it toured the sea by boat. A man who lost his home in the tsunami participated by playing the drums. He said, 'Being able to hold the festival with everyone is the best.'
