On the 24th, in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, there was a traditional event called “Ushi no Tsunotsuki” (Bull Horn Fighting) that has been held since long ago. In this event, bulls clash their horns and fight. It is usually held in the afternoon, but this year it was held in the morning. This change was made to protect the bulls from the summer heat. Recently, it is said that some bulls lose their energy in the summer. A spectator who watched the event said, “The sound of the horns colliding was very powerful. Since it’s cooler than in the afternoon, I hope they continue to hold it at this time.”
