In Kyoto, it is the season for harvesting a type of taro called 'ebiimo'. The shape and pattern resemble a shrimp, and it is used in New Year's dishes and other meals. In the fields of Kyotanabe City, farmers were harvesting the grown ebiimo and carefully removing the soil. According to JA Kyoto Yamashiro, there was a lot of rain this summer, resulting in good quality taro. A farmer mentioned, 'I recommend boiling it with salt or simmering it with squid. I look forward to hearing people say it's delicious this year as well.'
