私は猫です。この家に住んで3年になります。毎日、人間を観察しています。人間というのは不思議な生き物だと思います。特に、私の主人は変です。
I am a cat. It has been three years since I came to live in this house. Every day, I observe humans. I think that the creatures called humans are mysterious. Especially, my master is strange.
朝、主人は目覚まし時計の音で起きます。時間があるのに、いつも慌てているようです。ゆっくり朝ごはんを食べればいいのに、立ちながら食べています。私にはまったく理解できません。
In the morning, my master wakes up to the sound of the alarm clock. Even though there is time, he always seems to be in a hurry. Even though it would be fine if he ate breakfast slowly, he eats while standing. I cannot understand it at all.
主人は毎日、満員電車に乗って会社に行きます。疲れているようです。でも、休みません。「仕事が大切らしい」と私は気がつきました。働いてばかりいます。これが幸せに見えるでしょうか？見えないと思います。
My master rides a packed train every day and goes to the company. He seems tired. But he does not rest. I realized that “work seems to be important.” He does nothing but work. Does this look like happiness? I do not think it looks like it.
家に帰っても、主人はスマートフォンばかり見ています。画面を見ながら、何かを押しています。ロボットみたいです。私が呼んでも、気づきません。
Even when he comes home, my master just looks at his smartphone. While looking at the screen, he is pressing something. He is like a robot. Even when I call him, he doesn’t notice.
夜遅くまで働いています。疲れているのに、まだ仕事をします。体が悪くなるのではないかと思います。だから病気になるわけです。私のほうがずっと健康です。人間は賢くないようです。
He works until late at night. Even though he is tired, he still works. I think his body might become unhealthy. That is why he gets sick. I am much healthier. Humans do not seem to be wise.
休みの日でも、主人は家で仕事をしています。「休日」というのに、休みません。変ではないでしょうか？私は一日中寝ていますが、主人はそれができないらしいです。猫より人間のほうが不自由だと思います。
Even on his days off, my master works at home. Even though it is called a “day off”, he does not rest. Isn’t that strange? I sleep all day long, but it seems he cannot do that. I think humans are less free than cats.
人間を見ている間に、私は理解しました。人間は忙しくしていますが、幸せそうに見えません。お金を稼ぐために働くらしいです。でも、使う時間がありません。おかしいのは人間のほうです。
While watching humans, I understood. Humans are busy, but they do not look happy. Apparently, they work in order to earn money. But, there is no time to use it. The strange ones are the humans.
私の生活を見てください。朝はゆっくり起きます。好きな時に食べます。昼寝をします。窓から外を見ます。ストレスがありません。人間も同じようにすればいいのに、できないようです。
Please look at my life. In the morning, I wake up slowly. I eat when I like. I take a nap. I look outside from the window. There is no stress. Humans too, if they did the same way, it would be good, but it seems they cannot.
主人を見ていると、少しかわいそうだと思います。自由がないまま生きています。変えたいと思っても、変えられません。社会が怖いらしいです。人間は複雑です。
When I watch my owner, I think that they are a little pitiful. They are living without freedom. Even if they want to change things, they cannot change them. Apparently, society is scary. Humans are complicated.
人間はもっと猫から学ぶべきです。働くばかりではなく、休むことも大切です。スマートフォンより、昼寝のほうが幸せです。これが私の哲学です。さあ、また寝ましょう。
Humans should learn more from cats. Not only working, but resting is also important. Rather than a smartphone, a nap is happier. This is my philosophy. Well then, let’s sleep again.
