From April next year, the 'Technical Intern Training' program will be discontinued, and the 'Development Employment' program will begin. This program is designed to teach skills to foreigners who come to work in Japan, aiming to elevate them to the 'Specified Skilled Worker' level within three years. Companies employing these foreigners are generally required to provide more than 100 hours of Japanese language classes. Before this program starts, Kawasaki Ward in Kawasaki City has decided to offer Japanese language classes starting in August. About 10% of the residents in Kawasaki Ward are foreigners. The classes will be conducted online. The aim is for participants to become capable of everyday conversation and reading and writing. Kawasaki Ward stated, 'We want to create opportunities for learning Japanese to make communication easier in both work and daily life.'
