Tokyo Metro, the subway operator, is considering starting a new service during the morning rush hour when trains are crowded. The service will inform passengers about less crowded areas inside the train. Starting from the 1st, an experiment began at Kita-Senju Station on the Chiyoda Line. First, photos are taken inside the train at the station before Kita-Senju. From these photos, AI predicts crowded and less crowded areas inside the train. Then, the results are displayed on the path from the ticket gates to the platform at Kita-Senju Station. Areas that are crowded will display the words 'Currently Crowded'. Less crowded areas will be shown in green. A Tokyo Metro representative said, 'Many people tend to board the train at the same spot, but there are also less crowded areas. We hope people will board at these spots and have a more pleasant commute to work.'
