リョウは、入社して五年目になりました。ある日、上司から新しいプロジェクトを任されました。そして、新入社員のハナが、リョウのチームに加わることになりました。
Ryou had reached his fifth year at the company. One day, he was entrusted with a new project by his supervisor. And it was decided that Hana, a new employee, would join Ryou's team.
「よろしくお願いします！」とハナは元気よく言いました。でも、その目には少し不安の色がありました。リョウは微笑みながら、「こちらこそ。一緒に頑張りましょう」と答えました。
"Please take care of me!" Hana said cheerfully. But in her eyes, there was a hint of anxiety. Ryou smiled and replied, "Likewise. Let's do our best together."
プロジェクトが始まった日、リョウはかつての先輩、サカモトさんのことを思い出しました。サカモトさんはよく、「焦らなくていい。経験を積むうちに、自然と力がついてくる」と言ったものです。
On the day the project began, Ryou recalled his former mentor, Sakamoto-san. Sakamoto-san would often say, "There's no need to rush. While you accumulate experience, strength will naturally come to you."
その言葉は、リョウ自身もずっと支えになっていました。だから、ハナのためにも、同じことを大切にしようと決めました。焦らせるのではなく、じっくり成長できる環境を作るために、リョウは気をつけました。
Those words had always been a source of support for Ryou himself. So he decided to cherish the same thing for Hana's sake too. In order to create an environment where she could grow steadily rather than be rushed, Ryou was careful.
最初のうちは、ハナはよくミスをしました。資料の数字を間違えたり、会議の準備が遅れたりしました。リョウは怒らず、「大丈夫。私も最初はそうでしたよ」と優しく言いました。
In the beginning, Hana often made mistakes. She would get numbers wrong in documents or be late with meeting preparations. Ryou didn't get angry, gently saying, "It's okay. I was the same way at first."
プロジェクトが進むにつれて、ハナの仕事は少しずつ変わっていきました。ミスが減り、自分から提案するようになりました。リョウは静かにそれを見守っていました。
As the project progressed, Hana's work gradually changed. Her mistakes decreased, and she came to make proposals on her own. Ryou quietly watched over her.
ある日の振り返りで、リョウはハナに言いました。「プロジェクトを始めた頃に比べて、ハナさんは本当によくなりましたね。発表の仕方も、資料の作り方も、全然違います」
During a review session one day, Ryou said to Hana, "Compared to when we started the project, Hana-san has really improved. Both your presentation style and how you put together documents — it's completely different."
ハナは少し驚いた顔をしました。「そうでしょうか…。まだまだ足りないと思っています」とハナは言いました。リョウは首を横に振り、「謙虚なのはいいことです。でも、自分の成長にも気づいてください」と答えました。
Hana looked a little surprised. "Do you think so…? I feel like I'm still not enough," Hana said. Ryou shook his head, replying, "Being humble is a good thing. But please also notice your own growth."
プロジェクトの最終発表の日が来ました。ハナは自信を持って、クライアントの前で発表しました。声も落ち着いていて、質問にもしっかり答えられました。リョウは後ろの席から、温かく見守っていました。
The day of the final project presentation arrived. Hana presented confidently in front of the clients. Her voice was calm, and she was able to answer questions properly. Ryou watched over her warmly from a seat in the back.
発表は大成功でした。クライアントからも高い評価をもらいました。チーム全員で小さなお祝いをしました。ハナはそのとき、初めて心から笑えた気がしました。
The presentation was a great success. They received high praise from the clients as well. The whole team had a small celebration. At that moment, Hana felt like she was smiling from the heart for the first time.
その夜、ハナはリョウに一通のメッセージを送りました。「リョウさん、今日はありがとうございました。最初の自分に比べて、今の自分が信じられないくらいです。リョウさんのおかげで、ここまで来られました」
That evening, Hana sent Ryou a message. "Ryou-san, thank you so much for today. Compared to who I was at the start, I can hardly believe who I am now. Thanks to you, I was able to come this far."
リョウはそのメッセージを読んで、胸が温かくなりました。そして、サカモトさんの言葉をもう一度思い出しました。「経験を積むうちに、自然と力がついてくる」——その言葉は、本当でした。
Reading that message, Ryou felt a warmth in his chest. And he recalled Sakamoto-san's words once more. "While you accumulate experience, strength will naturally come to you" — those words had been true.
リョウはハナに返信しました。「こちらこそ、ありがとう。ハナさんが一生懸命やってくれたおかげで、プロジェクトが成功しました。一緒に仕事ができてよかったです」
Ryou replied to Hana. "Thank you as well. Thanks to Hana-san working so hard, the project was a success. I'm glad we were able to work together."
翌朝、出社したハナはリョウに言いました。「次のプロジェクトでも、もっと成長できるように頑張ります！」リョウは笑いながら、「その調子です。でも、焦らずにね」と答えました。
The next morning, Hana came into the office and said to Ryou, "I'll work hard to grow even more in the next project too!" Ryou laughed and replied, "That's the spirit. But don't rush, okay?"
リョウはその言葉を言いながら、自分もかつてサカモトさんに同じことを言ってもらったと気づきました。こうして、先輩から後輩へ、大切な言葉はつながっていくのです。
As Ryou said those words, he realized that he too had once been told the same thing by Sakamoto-san. And so, from senior to junior, important words continue to be passed on.
