北海道乙部町で、子どもたちが「かかし」という人形を作りました。
かかしは、米を食べる鳥や動物が来ないように田んぼに立てる人形です。
子どもたちは最初に、木の棒で人の形を作りました。
次に、袋に紙をたくさん入れて顔の形にします。顔には目や鼻や口をかきました。
そして田んぼに運んで、しっかりと立てました。
かかしを作った女の子は「服を着せたり笑っている顔をかいたりして楽しかったです」と話しました。
かかしは、米を取り終わるまで田んぼに立っています。

In Otobe Town, Hokkaido, children made dolls called 'scarecrows'. Scarecrows are dolls placed in rice fields to prevent birds and animals from eating the rice. First, the children made human shapes using wooden sticks. Next, they filled bags with paper to form the shape of a face. They drew eyes, a nose, and a mouth on the face. Then they carried them to the rice fields and set them up securely. A girl who made a scarecrow said, 'It was fun to dress it up and draw a smiling face.' The scarecrows will stand in the rice fields until the rice is harvested.
