京都市の京都水族館で、「オオサンショウウオ」という動物の大きさを調べました。
オオサンショウウオは、国が大切にしようと決めている特別天然記念物です。体の形が、数字の「9」に似ています。
9月9日の「オオサンショウウオの日」に、毎年、大きさを調べています。
水族館にいるいちばん大きいオオサンショウウオの長さは1m63cm、重さは32.5kgでした。去年より少し大きくなっていました。
見に来た小学生の男の子は「どうやって大きくなったのか知りたいです」と話していました。
水族館の人は「魚をたくさんあげたので、大きくなったと思います」と話していました。
