Japan's "Shodo" is likely to become a UNESCO "Intangible Cultural Heritage". Shodo is the art of beautifully writing characters using brushes and ink. Japan has long been requesting that its traditional Shodo be recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is expected to be decided at the UNESCO meeting starting on November 30. In Shodo, ink is used. Nara Prefecture is said to be the first place in Japan where ink production began. A person making ink in Nara Prefecture said, "I am happy because I am involved in work related to Shodo."
